The Seasons
a poem

The river frosts as snow lays upon the dead body of summer.

A blanket to cover it from the iced air of its winter slumber.

Rebirth in spring, its eyes awake once more

Our loves breath deep and sustained, solid and sure.

When winters over I will again be yours, for I am the hope, the optimism, the precious dream.

Of laughter and joy, youth and delight, the satisfied sighs of the night, and the sunlight’s happy screams.

But I am brief, and I am fleeting like a last kiss upon a lovers lips.

Days will sprint by before the brisk air comes and I will be missed

And though your eyes might not see me again, know that I will be there.

For when the snow covers you I will remain, like the sea of tears, and the restless air
